X Games 13

This past weekend, the Home Depot Center, located across the street from us, hosted X Games 13. I was perusing their website earlier last week and discovered they were going to feature rally (off-road car) racing as one of their events featuring the Subaru Impreza WRX. Some friends and I in the past have drooled over the Imprezas All Wheel Drive (AWD) capabilities and its tremendous ability to propel itself off-road at high speeds and with great agility. This seemed like a great opportunity to watch the car in action.

Allison and I began the day by watching the Skateboard Vert Ramp competition and the amazing abilities of many talented skateboarders like Shaun White, Bob Burnquist, and Andy MacDonald. It was incredible to see these guys flying off the edges of the ramp and pulling extraordinary tricks in mid-air. We definitely have a new found respect for these guys.

After the skateboard competition, we went inside the stadium to watch the off-road portion of the rally car race. After the first few races, the excitement began to build with some really close finishing races coupled with some dramatic collisions.

Inserted into the race was a 70 foot cross-over jump where one car had to jump over the lane of the other car. It was awesome to see one car jump right over another one at 40 mph!

















It was super fun to attend such a big event filled with some exciting sports. I'd recommend attending the X Games, just to gain a greater appreciation for extreme sports. You won't be disappointed.
