2006 GVBC Seminarian Golf Tournament
This past August, I participated in the Gardena Valley Baptist Church Annual Seminarian Golf Tournament. The purpose of the tournament was to raise money for church members who are attending seminary and Allison's mom, Linda, graciously sponsored me to play in the tournament. I had a lot of fun playing in it because it was my first golf tournament I'd ever played in and it was one of the few times in my life I was able to play a full 18 holes of golf (I'm too cheap to pay for 18 holes on a regular basis). I played pretty well the whole way through and ended with a score of 97. I was really happy with my score because it was official and it was less than a 100. (FYI, scoring under a 100 is a major feat. One statistic said less than 10% of golfers ever score less than 100.) After the tournament was a dinner and awards ceremony. Thinking I didn't have a chance of placing very high, I didn't stick around for the post-game activities.
Last week, Linda received the latest installment of the church's newsletter. Inside was an article recapping the golf tournament and it turns out I placed 5th in my flight! I was so excited to hear that I played so well and to have it recognized by others. What a great feeling!
