Our First Anniversary

Our first anniversary took some serious contemplation. We weren't really sure what we ought to do because-surprise, surprise-we'd never celebrated a one year wedding anniversary before and weren't exactly sure what we ought to do. We talked about going away somewhere for the weekend but then we thought it'd be too expensive for our tight budget. Then we decided to just go out to a nice restaurant for dinner closeby. We shared our predicament with Allison's brother, Derek who recommended Taps Fish House and Brewery. We thought it sounded good so we decided to go there. In addition to dinner, I knew I wanted to take us to Legoland and check out the amusement park devoted to Allison's favorite toy as a child.

Taps was a really nice place. On one side of the restaurant was a nice dining area and on the other was a more casual bar featuring a few TVs broadcasting various sporting events. The food, atmosphere and service was really good. I made the reservations through OpenTable.com where I included the note that we were celebrating our first anniversary. At the end of the evening, we were pleasantly surprised when they gave us two desserts on the house to celebrate our anniversary.

Part 2 of our anniversary celebration came the next week when we went down to Carlsbad for Legoland. We began our time there by meeting up with our tour guide, decked out in a complete Legoman outfit. Soon after we started our tour, we were attacked by a monstrous Lego dragon and Darth Vader, whom I fended off with a Lego lightsaber. After narrowly escaping with our lives we picked up some Lego pets, a dinosaur and a turtle, to take home with us. With our pets in tow, we checked out the latest in Lego programming technology at their Mindstorms exhibition, where we programmed our little Lego buddies to execute different tasks like dunking foam basketballs into baskets and doing a little dance afterwards. We concluded our evening by taking a few laps around the famed Daytona 500 with Little E.

Legoland really was a cool place, even for adults. We highly recommend checking it out if you like Legos.

ECC Reunions!

January was an ECC month! Our first get together was for Chris & Athania's baby shower in the early part of January. The second was near the end of month when Mark & Ling came into town. Just like last time, we gathered at Buca di Beppo's in Pasadena to enjoy some yummy Italian food and some great company!
