Christmas in Cayucos

The Chan Family

Christmas was spent with the Chan's, my mom's side of the family. This included all of my cousins, aunts and uncles totaling to about 30 of us. In addition, Allison's mom joined us.

The days were spent running, walking and playing on the beach, watching sports on TV, catching up with each other, and preparing food for the respective following meal. In the evening, we'd chow down and do family stuff together...like participating in a Wii boxing tournament. It's amazing how many different boxing stance variations exist and the kinds of things people will say while trying to put their opponent down on the canvas. Definitely enlightening.

On Christmas evening, the aunts and uncles shared some of their knowledge of our family's history. It included their escape from Communist China in the 1950s, their life in Hong Kong, immigration to the U.S. in 60s and a little bit of their life since then. It was a great evening of listening to stories of my family's journey across three different countries, filled with various trials and blessings along the way.

I'm Done!

I'm done with my degree at Fuller! I made it through two and a quarter years of studying theology and I've finally finished! I turned in my last paper on Friday afternoon and immediately celebrated with Allison at the Yardhouse per our post quarter celebration ritual. We went to the Yardhouse in Long Beach and enjoyed a yummy meal featuring the most delicatable creme brulee to top it all off. On Saturday, Garrett, Jean and the kids came up from San Diego to celebrate with us as well. That night we had great Chinese food in Alhambra.

Since I turned in that last paper, I have these periodic realizations that I have finished with my studies and now I don't have to read, study, write papers, research, commute to Pasadena, and much more! I actually have evenings and weekends to relax and play, instead of always having the thought of studying looming over me from the start until the conclusion of each quarter. I can finally get some rest now.

Failing eyesight

I think I've been reading and looking at the computer so much this week that my eyesight has worsened!

The Last Stretch

I am almost done! I'm down to my last paper for my missions class and I'm half way through my outline. I'm hoping I can finish this portion of it this morning and then start writing this afternoon. I'm going to trace the theme of administration through the Old and New Testaments and show it's relation to the mission of God. Who would have thought administration was a factor in how God reveals himself to humanity? Yay to us administrators!

Last Finals Week

This is my last finals week and I have two more papers to go. One is for my Race & Christian Identity in Paul and the other is for my Biblical Foundations of Mission class. I really just want to be done with school now.
